Dylan Thomas / Portfolio

Websites for readers.
Tools for editors.

I work on publishing websites and the awkward jobs around them: editing content, checking designs, and getting the details right.

From design to WordPress.

I work on the WordPress build and interface details: navigation, archives, responsive layouts and checking the build against the design.

For the Topics menu, I’ve been developing a subject list with article previews, keyboard focus and layouts that adapt to smaller screens.

My contribution: WordPress implementation and interface refinement.

Frame Compare

Frame Compare shows two fictional editorial layouts side by side, with their headlines selected and measured.

“That spacing looks off.” Now check it.

I built a local tool to compare a Figma design with its working website, inspect dimensions and spacing, and capture a particular view — including an open menu.

My contribution: tool development and interface design.

A little about me

Dylan Thomas in a tweed jacket, standing in front of a painted mural.

I notice the fiddly bits.

A setting buried three screens deep. A layout that nearly matches. A task that means copying the same thing again. That’s often where my work starts.

At Beck&Stone, I work on publishing websites and the tools around them. I care about how a page looks, but also what happens when someone has to use it every day.

Away from the browser

I write essays and poetry, and make heavy music in REAPER. I have a soft spot for old technology — hence the control-room colours.
